launch night

Launch of Wrapper at Edgware Road

November 20th saw the official launch of WRAPPER – a permanent work of art by Jacqueline Poncelet, specifically created to dress the new London Underground building and perimeter wall next to Edgware Road (Circle line) Tube station. We have been manufacturing and installing the vitreous enamel cladding panels over the last 9 months. The vibrant artwork consists of a set of patterns derived from Poncelet’s research into the surrounding area. The launch was held at The Chapel opposite the south wall which was illuminated for the evening. The event celebrated the near completion of what has been a 3 year project.

Covering a surface of 1,500 square metres, Wrapper is the largest work created by Poncelet to date; it is also the largest vitreous enamel artwork in Europe. The work was commissioned by Art on the Underground – click here to view the production process
